Board with feet
Feet lift the board above the counter and can improve grip. They also increase total height and make one face the permanent bottom. Confirm the foot material, attachment, replacement method, and whether the board remains stable on the intended counter.
Reversible board
A reversible board provides two working faces and can spread wear. Both faces must remain compatible with the edge details. A groove or engraving on one side may still make the two faces serve different tasks.
Without fixed feet, grip depends on board mass, counter surface, and any separate mat or towel recommended by the maker. Follow the maker's guidance.
Details that decide the layout
- Overall height including feet.
- Handhold position on both orientations.
- Groove, engraving, or profile on each face.
- Air circulation while drying.
- Access for refinishing and foot replacement.
Feet are part of the specification. Their height, position, material, and attachment affect stability and serviceability.
Which is appropriate
Choose feet when a fixed top, consistent clearance, and built-in grip are priorities. Choose reversible construction when two usable faces and simpler full-surface refinishing are more important.
